You can save layers from a drawing to a file with the extension .clxlys so you can reuse the same setting. For example, if all the standard layers needed for a project are stored in a drawing, you can create a new drawing and import the default layers into it, which reduces the time it takes to define layers and ensures compatibility between drawings.
To save the layer stack

Open the Layer Setup dialog box in one of the following ways:

If the Layer and view bar is displayed, click the button on the bar.

Choose the Layer and Views command in the Settings menu.

In the File description box enter a short description.

Click the Save button.
To import the layer stack

Open the Layer Setup dialog box in one of the following ways:

If the Layer and view bar is displayed, click the button on the bar.

Choose the Layer and Views command in the Settings menu.

Click the Open button. A dialog box opens in which you can select the file to be imported. You can only import the layer stack if the current page contains no objects.
