A coordinate system is a coordinate based reference system. uses a two-dimensional orthogonal reference system characterized by the origin (coordinate point 0.0) and the unit of measurement. The origin is normally located in the lower left vertex of the page but can be redefined to have a coordinate system relative to a certain point in the workspace. For example, a relative coordinate system is useful when drawing component footprints.
Hierarchy of the coordinate system
The settings of the coordinate system fall within the Basic page properties and therefore apply according to the hierarchical scheme: Document » Page » View. The page properties set in the document will apply to all pages and views of the document unless they are redefined in an internal layer. Similarly, the page properties set in the page will apply to all page views unless they are redefined in the view.
Classes of coordinates
To make the coordinate system setting quicker, the coordinate classes are used in . A class of coordinates is characterized by the following properties: origin of the coordinate system, units of coordinate measurement, snap settings, visible grid settings.

The coordinate classes are defined in the document and can be selected in the Coordinate System Bar. |
To define a class of coordinates
Open the Document Properties dialog by selecting the Settings » Document Properties command or using the CTRL+ALT+D key combination.
Click on the Coordinate classes tab.
Click the New class button and type in the name of the new class.
Open the class group by clicking the button and set all parameters.
To delete a class of coordinates
Open the Document Properties dialog by selecting the Settings » Document Properties command or using the CTRL+ALT+D key combination.
Click on the Coordinate classes tab.
Select the class to delete.
Click the Delete class button.
To set one of the coordinate classes defined in the document
To set a coordinate class, the Coordinate System Bar must be displayed. Choose the class of coordinates in the list box of the bar.
