The following tools are available to accurately measure waveform values such as amplitude and period:
The cursors of the diagrams.
Linear dimension objects.
The label object.
The tool for measuring distances.
Taking measurements with cursors
Two cursors are available to measure the displayed curves. When the diagram is selected and the cursors are active, the hooks of the cursors are displayed. The hooks of the cursors are yellow boxes displayed at the ends of the cursor line. Drag the hooks of the cursor to change its position along the curve. If the cursor is not attached to any vectors, two hooks are displayed. The hooks allow you to change the horizontal and vertical position independently. If the cursor is hooked to a curve, only the hook controlling the horizontal position is displayed, the vertical position is equal to the value assumed by the vector.
To view the position of the cursors
The position of the cursors is displayed as follows:
When the mouse pointer is over a cursor hook, the cursor position is displayed on the status bar.
The cursor position is always displayed in the respective cursor window. To activate the Cursor window choose the View » Cursors command.
The position of the cursors can be displayed directly in the diagrams by activating the Show label on the cursor option, present in the diagram properties window.
Make measurements in diagrams
Linear dimension objects can be used within diagrams to measure waveform values such as amplitude and period. The Label object can be used to display values for a given position within the diagram.
Select the diagram.
Activate the context menu with the right mouse button and display the submenu Diagram.
Choose one of the following commands:
- Leader
- Vertical dimension
- Horizontal dimension
Place the object within the graph area of the diagram.
Distance Measurement
The Distance measurement tool can be used to measure the distance between two points within the diagram.
Select the diagram.
Activate the context menu with the right mouse button and display the submenu Diagram.
Choose the command Measure distance .
Specify the starting point.
Specify the end point. The measurement result is displayed in the Output tab of the Messages Panel.
