This dialog allows you to build the footprint to associate with the component. Footprints are used to represent components in PCBs.
Footprint
This box shows the name of the selected footprint and lists the names of the recently used footprints.
Enter the name of the footprint manually
To enter the name of the footprint, perform the following steps:
Click the button . The dialog box for entering the name of the footprint opens.
Enter the name of the footprint and click on Ok.
Selecting a recently used footprint
To select a recently used footprint, do the following:
Click the button . This opens the list of recently used footprints.
Select a footprint.
Choose a footprint from libraries
To choose a footprint, do the following:
Scroll through the list of libraries and select the footprint.
Click the button .
Create a footprint using the Wizard
If a suitable footprint is not available, you can use the automatic footprint generation procedure. To create a footprint, do the following:
Click the button Footprint Wizard. The Footprint wizard dialog box opens.
-
In the dialog box, specify the dimensional parameters of the component and select the IPC level of the footprint.
-
Click on Ok to close the wizard.
Full name
In this box you can specify the full name of the component including the specifications for the type of container.
Shape
If the symbol has multiple shapes, you can specify the shape to be displayed.
Description
You can enter a short description of the component.
Pin-Pad Mapping
Specify the match between the pins in the electrical symbol and the pads in the PCB footprint. The match is considered relative to the first symbol specified in the component's symbol list.
Select in the column Pin Number or in the column Pin Name the pin of the symbol that corresponds to the Pad.
The Connection column must be used to specify any internal connections between the pads. The pads with the same connection number have an electrical connection inside the component.
