The current style is assigned to the new objects created. It can be set either from the Style bar or in the Document Properties dialog box.
To set the current style from the Style Panel

Empty the current selection of any selected objects.
Choose the desired style.
To set the current style from the document properties dialog box

Choose Document properties from the Settings menu or press the key combination CTRL+ALT+D.

Open the Object styles tab.
Select the style to set.
Set the style parameters.
To set the current styles by capturing them from an object
Sets the styles of the selected object as current styles.

Select the object from which to acquire the styles.

Do one of the following:

Choose the Get style command.

Click the Get style button.

This command captures all styles of the object. For example, using this command on a rectangle, the following styles are read: pen style, fill style, shadow style. If you only want to capture the pen style, you must use the Get Style command in the Pen Style panel.
