This window allows you to set the parameters for defining the pen style. The Shape tab defines the line stroke style while the Arrowhead tab defines the extremes style.
Shape
The parameters in this tab allow you to define the line section.
- Width
-
Specify the thickness of the line drawn by the pen.
- Symmetry
-
Specifying a value other than 100% defines a pen in which the horizontal and vertical strokes will have different thicknesses. This parameter specifies the thickness of the vertical stroke with respect to the horizontal stroke. The horizontal stroke will always have a thickness equal to the value indicated in the Width box.
- Join
-
Specify the shape of the angles between two consecutive strokes.
- Color
-
Select the color from the available colors. To add a new color to the palette, click Style Manager.
- Transparency
-
Specify the transparency percentage of the pen.
- Fill style
-
Select the fill style. This parameter is an alternative to the pair of parameters Color and Transparency depending on the state of the box Use a fill.
- Dash
-
Selects the stroke of the pen between full lines and dotted patterns. To add a hatch click Style Manager » Pen » Pen patterns to display the Line Pattern dialog box.
- Cap
-
Allows you to define the shape of the ends of the individual strokes of a dotted line pattern.
- Scale
-
Specify the scale of the hatching. Choose Auto to have a hatch proportioned to the thickness of the pen.
- Use a fill
-
Specify whether the pen color should be defined by the parameter pair Color and Transparency or by the parameter Fill style.
- Under the filling
-
If this box is checked, the outline of the object is drawn behind its fill. The effect becomes more noticeable when the lines are thicker.
- Uniform
-
This parameter defines the behavior of the pen when drawing shapes when the pen is not completely opaque. If this box is checked, the color of the pen will be uniform for all line strokes otherwise the color of the pen will be more intense in strokes where line strokes overlap.
Arrowhead
The parameters in this tab allow you to define the style of the line ends.
- Arrows only on extremes
-
If the box is checked, the arrow is only displayed if the end of the line is free and not connected to other objects.
Start
These parameters define the style of the initial extreme of the line.
- Shape
-
Select the shape to be assigned to the start cap of the line.
- X scale
-
Allows you to resize the shape horizontally.
- Y scale
-
Allows you to resize the shape vertically.
- Cap
-
Allows you to define the extremes of the individual strokes that describe the shape.
- Join
-
Allows you to define the appearance of angles between two consecutive strokes.
- Position
-
Defines the position of the shape relative to the start of the line.
End
These parameters define the style of the end cap of the line.
- Shape
-
Select the shape to be assigned to the end cap of the line.
- X scale
-
Allows you to resize the shape horizontally.
- Y scale
-
Allows you to resize the shape vertically.
- Cap
-
Allows you to define the extremes of the individual strokes that describe the shape.
- Join
-
Allows you to define the appearance of angles between two consecutive strokes.
- Position
-
Defines the position of the shape relative to the end of the line.
