You can remove unused layers from the drawing by deleting them in Layer Setup.

A layer can only be deleted if it does not contain any objects. |
To remove an unused layer

Open the Layer Setup dialog box in one of the following ways:

If the layer and view bar is displayed, click the
button on the bar. -
Choose the Layer and Views command in the Settings menu.

Select the layer in the layer pane. If the layer can be removed the Delete button becomes active.

Click the Delete button to remove the layer.

Changes made to layer settings can be undone by selecting the Cancel layer management command from the Modify menu. |
